Wyoming CMRA
A Commercial Mail Receiving Agency, or CMRA, gives you a credible, professional mailing address for your business while letting you keep your home address private. Here’s what you should know about CMRAs, why they’re necessary, and how to hire one.
What Is a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency?
A CMRA is a private business (like us) that receives mail from the U.S. Postal Service and others on behalf of a third party (like you). You don’t have to be a business to get a CMRA, as they can also accept mail for individuals.
At Wyoming Registered Agent, we’ll scan your mail digitally and upload it to your secure online account. We’ll also shred your junk mail before you even have to think about it or know it exists. Beyond that, you can pick from one of three plans, all of which include a unique suite number:
- Standard Mail Scanning For $49 a year, we’ll scan up to 10 pieces of mail into your online account.
- Premium Mail Scanning For $99 a year, we’ll scan up to 25 pieces of mail into your online account. A
- Virtual Office If you’re expecting a lot of mail, this is the option for you. You’ll get unlimited mail scans for $19 a month, plus an office lease and conference room access.
Note: If you hire us for registered agent service, you’ll get 5 pieces of mail a year scanned for free. So if you already have registered agent service, you’ll get an additional 10 pieces of mail with the standard plan and an additional 25 pieces of mail with the premium plan.
CMRA Benefits
Not sure what advantage a CMRA has over a regular old post office box? Here are four benefits.
- Professionalism: An office address gives you a more professional and trustworthy look than listing a P.O. Box or residential address.
- Security and Privacy: Keep some separation between your personal mail and business mail with a CMRA. Getting a CMRA also means you don’t have to list your home address as your business address, which is helpful for all those people who will be looking up directions to your business.
- Stability: A CMRA gives you a permanent address where you can check your mail, regardless of if you work at multiple locations.
- More Options: A CMRA can accept mail from private carriers like UPS and FedEx, not just USPS. CMRAs can also offer you digital mail storage and mail scanning, which is a more efficient option than finding a place to store physical mail.
How to Get a CMRA
First, choose from our standard or premium mail service, or go up a tier and opt for a virtual office.
Once you’ve signed up for a service, you’ll need to log into your online account and fill out Form 1583. This is a requirement from the U.S. Postal Service.
The federal government uses Form 1583 to verify that you’re receiving your mail through a licensed and registered CMRA (that’s us), not some shady operation that works out of a storage shed on the outskirts of town.
For Form 1583, you’ll need to give your name, residential street address, a copy of your photo ID, proof of your address, and a digital signature.
For photo ID, provide one of the following:
- U.S State/territory,tribal driver’s or nondriver’s ID card
- Matricular consular

- U.S. college or university ID

- U.S. Access card

- U.S. State/Territory/Tribal Driver’s or Nondriver’s ID Card (if not already used for your photo ID)
